Prior to her career in mental health, Amalina had a six-year corporate career in Sime Darby spanning marketing, transformation, strategy, sustainability & internal audit. She pivoted her corporate career to work in mental health after caring for her late father, a lifelong Bipolar patient. The experience of using the Malaysian mental healthcare system highlighted the systemic gaps that existed and spurred her career change with the vision of ameliorating it in the future.
Amalina is passionate about social justice and providing equitable opportunities for all levels of humanity. Her volunteering trip to India during university opened up her eyes to severe inequality and sparked her passion for community development. Since then, she has been actively involved in community programmes across Malaysia, Australia & Spain.
She is an avid traveller who has travelled to over 40 countries and loves exploring the underwater world with her advanced PADI diving certification. She enjoys writing, reading, doing yoga, meditating and gardening in her free time.
